The Nippon Foundation-University of Edinburgh Ocean Voices Programme is honoured to welcome new Fellows to its growing community of ocean change-makers.

Visiting Ocean Voices Fellow, Julia Schutz Veiga, Khalil Hassanali, Research programme partner at the Ocean Voices, and Vanessa Lopes, a Ocean Voices fellow and Ocean Voices PhD candidate attended the BBNJ Workshop: Regime Interaction event held at the University of Wollongong in May 2024.

During the first week of July, the Ocean Voices Programme welcomed its international community of Fellows, advisors and visitors to Edinburgh, UK, for its annual Ocean Voices Week.

Ocean Voices Fellows, Kalene Eck and Maila Guilhon, attended Ocean Science Meeting in April 2024. Both attendees participated in events, sharing insights and perspectives on a range of topics, including the fostering of partnerships in the Ocean Decade and increasing collaboration in ocean science research.

Ocean Voices was present at the recent United Nations Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona, Spain, through its active participation, leadership in hosting events, and commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships in pursuit of a sustainable and equitable ocean future.

Ocean Voices Fellows, Vanessa Lopes and Sheena Talma, recently participated in the Blue Leaders meeting focusing on the ratification and implementation of the BBNJ agreement.

Ocean Voices Fellows, Gemma Nelson and Kathryn Audroing, recently participated in INC-3 in Nairobi to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution.
