Kalene Eck is an independent consultant and researcher focusing on marine management and policy in Belize and the wider Caribbean. She holds a Master of Marine Management degree with a focus in Marine Policy and Law from the Marine Affairs Program at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada. Kalene possesses a wealth of knowledge and over ten years’ experience in marine conservation, fisheries management, policy formulation, and of the legal framework governing marine affairs in Belize. Her goal is to work with a dedicated group of interdisciplinary personnel towards the implementation of sustainable environmental practices through research, and science communication with policy and decision makers. 

During the fellowship, Kalene will continue her research focus on enhancing the science-policy interface of ocean and coastal management in Belize & the Caribbean by addressing challenges related to identifying and providing relevant information for decision-making processes.
